Hydraulic Crane Rental in Connecticut
Need a crane that drives to the job, sets up fast and lifts heavy? That is a hydraulic crane.
General Crane rents hydraulic cranes with an operator across Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, from our yard in East Hartford. We are a family business, lifting in this area since 1972. Our first crane was a 30 ton mobile hydraulic crane.
What is a hydraulic crane?
A hydraulic crane lifts with oil pressure. Pumps push oil into the boom, and the boom slides out in sections like a telescope. The crane is built on a truck, so it drives to the site on the road.
That makes it quick to set up. There is no big boom to put together on site, so the crane is ready to lift soon after it parks.
What can you lift with a hydraulic crane?
- Steel beams and columns.
- Roof trusses and building materials.
- Rooftop HVAC units and generators.
- Signs, poles and light fixtures.
- Machines going into or out of a plant.
- Precast concrete pieces.

Does a hydraulic crane rental come with an operator?
Yes. We rent our hydraulic cranes with an operator. The operator sets up the crane, makes the lift and packs up after, so your crew can get on with its own work.
See our page on crane rental with an operator for how that works on site.
How long can I rent a hydraulic crane?
As long as the job needs. Some jobs are a single lift. Others need a crane for a full day, a week or longer.
